Motor Minesweepers (MMS)

A detailed look at the Motor Minesweepers that were manned by Belgian personnel during World War II.

MMS stands for Motor Minesweepers (nickname : Mickey Mouse). These ships were used to sweep mines along the English Coast, and later along the Belgian and French Coast. They also had to sweep the 'Schelt", in Belgium and Holland. The RNSB manned several MMS.
